About 400 Words

400 Words is a storytelling project. It is a print magazine and a website, consisting of true stories, none over 400 words, by ordinary people on assigned themes. It's about the documentation of everyday life, saying a lot by saying a little. You can learn more, or order a copy, or tell a story of your own.

We’re Letting the Spammers Win…

It’s October 15 and there’s a romantic chill in the air in New York City. I’m experimenting with selling text link ads on this page, a bit curious as to whether there’s enough traffic to net any money for the project or not. The company I’m using has a very fascinating “Text Link Ad Calculator;” you can put your website URL into it and it will tell you how much $ you will supposedly earn by placing text link ads in various spots around your page. Follow the link at the right if you’re interested — as part of their ‘affiliate’ program, I supposedly get $25 if anyone else signs up (but they won’t know to credit me unless you get there following THAT LINK).

A few more ads will probably follow; please let me know if they become obnoxious, as non-obnoxiousness is Job Number One here at Four Hundo.

I have the printers’ proofs in hand for Issue #2. They look good. Copies here in the mail soon (and to you soon, if you’ve pre-ordered). I’ll also be ironing out the details of a NY-area launch party in the next week or so. If you’d like to get an invite, please email me: katherine@400words.com.

Finally, and this is the reason for the name of the post — don’t be shy about leaving comments on other peoples’ stories! (Or your own, for that matter.) I’m ever so tired of moderating spam “comments” about online gambling and MILFs…
