About 400 Words

400 Words is a storytelling project. It is a print magazine and a website, consisting of true stories, none over 400 words, by ordinary people on assigned themes. It's about the documentation of everyday life, saying a lot by saying a little. You can learn more, or order a copy, or tell a story of your own.

Which Banner?

Still working on the banner. Which do you prefer: The slightly less enigmatic one on the top, or the more balanced, less Photoshopped one on the bottom?

As a graphic artist, I’d say the top one reads better, the other is distracting as you make the connections with the letters- talk about compulsions, I visit this site daily to see what’s going on-(I can’t help muself!)
When’s the next book coming out?

I’m inclined to agree with you (not to influence anyone who may comment after!)

I’m loath to say when the next book will come out, since I’ve broken so many self-imposed deadlines already, but I’m working on it. New stories will resume here soon, too.

I like the top one better, too. I find the other one too distracting. Also, I think the green trailer would be a pretty cool addition.

Thanks, Travis. I like the green trailer too, but it’s too narrow. Maybe before too long I’ll find something that’s colorful, but wide enough. I think banners should be changed seasonally. :)

The Bottom. Less sterile and “tech-like.”
