Jay,

Please contact me via my above email address or by phone 301-593-0127. Since next March is the beginning of your grandfather's ordeal, I have been conducting a lot of research. I am giving a drash about the case at my shul next March 12, the 100th anniversary of the day the Cherberyak gang killed Andrey Yushinsky.

I would LOVE to speak with you not only about your grandfather and the case, but to see exactly how he and my grandmother were related. She was 15 during the trial and came to America the next year, the same year your grandfather's family emigrated to Palestine.

Shalom,
Morris Rodenstein

I am trying to find Mr. Maysles. I understand he worked on a film on the Mendel Beilis case. My late grandmother, Celia Bialsky Rodenstein, who was born in Kiev, was Beilis's first cousin. Beilis visited the family in Boston (Revere) in 1930.

I am doing some research in preparation for the 100-year anniversary of the notorious blood libel case and was wondering if I could communicate with Mr. Maysles.

Thank you.

I came across 400 words through the Maysles Films website. I'm about to interview Albert for an article for an online publication, Red Dog Journal, and was just catching up on his goings-on (as if that's even remotely possible). His 400 words were wonderful, a philosophy of life worth passing on and an intimate glimpse into his
family and history as well. And your introduction to the piece-- how you met-- was also quite wonderful.

Having just discovered 400 words, I'm sorry to learn its demise approaches. Perhaps it could continue, with you continuing to find, stumble upon your subjects, and inviting them to contribute? I say this not knowing how you worked before this. And rather than cease if you can't make the work tanglible in print form, I'd hope you'd ride what seems an ever-swelling crest of importance to the treasures one finds online, often by word of mouth. BTW, I've shared your enthusiasm and passion for independent publishing, and have in my own background a small magazine of photography I put out in the 1970s (Combinations, A Journal of Photography). To this day I find fams and admirers who felt it mattered in their lives. It also inspired others to take up publishing on their own. As I'm sure is the case with 400 words--its impact will be more than you can now anticipate. I salute you!
